Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect your information

The Ghana Air Quality Data Hub is operated by the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) Ghana. We are committed to handling your personal information responsibly and in accordance with Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly when you:
- Submit a data request (name, email, organisation, purpose of use)
- Report a pollution incident (contact details and location information)
- Subscribe to air quality alerts (email address)
- Create a staff or partner account (name, email, phone number)
We also collect technical information automatically, including your IP address, browser type, and pages visited, for security and service improvement purposes.
How We Use Your Information
- To process and fulfil data requests
- To send air quality alerts you have subscribed to
- To investigate and respond to pollution reports
- To manage staff and partner access to the platform
- To improve the platform and monitor its security
- To comply with legal obligations
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with:
- Other government agencies where required by law or for public health purposes
- Technology partners who help operate this platform (under strict data processing agreements)
- Law enforcement or regulatory bodies when required by law
Air quality measurement data published on this platform is publicly available and not personally identifiable.
Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by Ghanaian law. Data request records are kept for a minimum of five years for accountability purposes. Alert subscription data is deleted when you unsubscribe.
Your Rights
Under Ghana's Data Protection Act, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (where legally permissible)
- Object to processing of your data in certain circumstances
- Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)
Cookies
This platform uses essential session cookies required for secure login and form submission. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
